Goldfinger (Original title)
Dates: 1964 (Copyright), 18 October 1964 (Release)

Country: United Kingdom

Directed by: Guy Hamilton

Synopsis: Espionage action thriller. Secret agent James Bond is pitted against bullion dealer Auric Goldfinger, who is believed responsible for a leakage of British gold. Their first encounter results in the death of Goldfinger's secretary, Jill Masterton, whom he suffocates with a coat of gold paint. Tailing Goldfinger across Switzerland Bond finds another girl taking a shot at him. She is Jill's sister and is later killed by Oddjob, Goldfinger's bodyguard, in a struggle which results in Bond's capture. Sparing him from death by a laser beam, Goldfinger has Bond flown to America by his private pilot, Pussy Galore, head of a team of girl fliers. Pussy professes immunity to Bond's charm but finally helps him to outwit Goldfinger's master plan to storm Fort Knox and freeze the entire gold reserve of the United States by radioactive contamination. Bond is being flown to the White House when Goldfinger reveals himself in charge of the plane with Pussy. A stray bullet smashes a window de-pressurising the cabin. Goldfinger is sucked out. Bond and Pussy survive the crash to await rescue on a Caribbean island.
